11/08/2003: "Total Lunar Eclipse Tonight"
A total lunar eclipse was visible from Perkasie this evening. This photo was taken about 9:25 PM. The eclipse was total at 8:06 PM, and will end soon after 11 PM. It was the second (and last) total lunar eclipse visible in this area this year; the first was in May.
A lunar eclipse is caused by the earth's shadow passing across the moon as the earth passes between the sun and the moon. Unlike a solar eclipse, it's perfectly safe to view a lunar eclipse with the naked eye.
